However unlike the other island in Indonesia, Komodo Island possess a uniqueness that makes it stand out from the other islands around it. The island has something that are not possessed by all other island in Indonesia which is nature’s unspoiled treasure. So, why not just take a break from the big, busy, and polluted life in the city that we live in today and get the chance to taste the beauty of God’s creation.

The Journey

In every journey there will be a beginning, it all started in the airport of Bali which is also called as Ngurah Rai International Airport. This is where we usually take our flights to our respective destination, in this case would be the small city called Labuan Bajo. There are few flights to Labuan Bajo so make sure you have prepared a ticket. As we walk through the airport everything seems as normal we checked in our luggage, walk through the immigration, and finally waited at the respective gates. While boarding our plane, I noticed that something was bizarre, for the plane was running on propellers instead of turbine which I was more familiar with. After two hours and twenty-five minutes, we finally arrived to Labuan Bajo. In Labuan Bajo, there would be several boat plans on where you wish to go or interested in doing so make sure to decide that suits your interest.

We then proceeded to take a speed boat to our final destination, the Komodo Island. While we were on the way to Komodo Island, we were mesmerized by the outstanding view. The natural beauty of the sea combined with the scenery obtained by the sunset made it surreal. Everywhere I look everything seems magical, water is clear as glass and the breeze of the cold night sky fills me with calmness.

Ayana Komodo Resort

With tired eyes, after a long journey I went to the famous tropical resort, Ayana Komodo Resort. It was located near the edge of the island. We got a two bedroom bungalow, which was huge! It was equipped with a kitchen as well as a spacious balcony in which we could enjoy the stunning view of the beach, and a lot of living space. The best part about the resort was the balcony, you can enjoy the amazing view, while getting some fresh air and drinking a cup of coffee in the morning.

Pink Beach

The following day, We took a 30 minute ride on a boat to the iconic Pink Beach of Komodo Island. The Pink Beach in Labuan is one of seven pink beaches on the planet, and is just one of the many amazing features of Komodo Island that making it truly a Wonder of Nature. When I first saw the beach I was astonished by its beauty because never in my life have I encountered a pink beach!

The Pink Beach gets its eye striking color through microorganisms called Foraminifera, which produce a red pigment on the coral reefs. Because of this the locals that live in Labuan Bajo often called this beach as the “Red Beach”. At the Pink Beach there are numerous of things you could do from fun activities such as playing ball or just sit down and relax as you catch a glimpse of the splendid view of the Pink Beach. After done with all the activities we decided to return back to the boat and rest for tomorrow will be a busy day!

Komodo National Park

On the last day in the Komodo Island was a big day, me and my family have decided to go to the Komodo National Park, one of the very few places that komodo dragons still existed. An official UNESCO world heritage site, the park was such a remarkable place. Not only was the park such a beautiful and stunning place filled with various types of plants, trees, flower, and living creatures that will make you feel as if you are one with mother nature herself. It is also the very few places of the world where you can see a living komodo dragon. After a few moments of following the tour guide showing us various types of fauna, we eventually got to the part where we are able to see the komodo dragons.

When I first saw them I was in complete awe, I can’t believe that I was standing in front in one of these magnificent endangered lizards. They were so fascinating, I have never seen a creature more majestic. Soon after being finished we decided to head on to the airport so we went on the boat and finally arrived at the Komodo Airport. We then have to part ways with undoubtedly one of the greatest experience I have ever had. From the amazing natural landscapes to the miraculous Pink Beach and the majestic komodo dragons. No wonder the Komodo island has been abducted by UNESCO as one of the world 7 wonder of the world.
